This painting's like a funhouse mirror with an MA in reading people - it's got a playful warpedness of a face thats basically just a higgledy-piggledy mess of geometric shapes in bright oranges purples and blues. Because why does self-reflection have to be all serious and boring, right ? The face is littered with multiple eyes scattered around, giving that unsettling feeling that you're being watched from every angle (though to be honest if someone started staring at me Id probably just get a bit awkward). This riot of colours and shapes really messes with our heads about who we are - is this really how you look, or how you imagine yourself after a long sleepless night on a monday morning when the beans have clearly started to kick in ?. all of this comes together in a perfect swirl of colour and crazy shapes that challenges our ideas about ourselves - and of course how we think others see us - and what a great message it is to just learn to laugh at the whole thing. its a pretty startling reminder that who you are is never as simple as it seems - and that is a good thing.
